A very special service took place in Christ Church Cathedral to mark the Feast of St Patrick. The Cathedral choir was joined by the Schola Cantorum of St Peter’s Roman Catholic Cathedral in Belfast for a unique cross border ecumenical Festival Eucharist, which was celebrated by Archbishop Michael Jackson.
The two choirs sang together as one ensemble to reflect the theme of a shared desire for Christian unity. The choirs were joined by the Christ Church Brass Ensemble who performed a number of fanfares and accompanied a special arrangement of the Langlaise Messe Solennelle.
The sermon was preached by Canon Patrick Comerford, Lecturer in Anglicanism and Liturgy at the Church of Ireland Theological Institute. After outlining a number of myths and legends which surround St Patrick, Canon Comerford highlighted some of the patron saint’s positive legacies.
